Things to see and do around Brooksville
Recreation
Sea Winds is ideally located close to some of Maine’s best hiking, boating, wildlife viewing, gallery hopping, antiquing, and dining experiences. We are surrounded by quaint towns, hard-working harbors, a dynamic art and restaurant community, spectacular views, diverse land trusts, and dozens of opportunities for exploration and adventure.
Attractions
The granite domes and dramatic coastline of Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor are within an hour’s drive. The galleries and secret beaches of Deer Isle are nearby, as is picturesque Stonington. Charming Blue Hill village is great for shopping, dining, sipping and strolling. With its red-bricked downtown, leafy riverside park, treasure-packed antique shops, L.L. Bean outlet, and legendary lobster restaurants, Ellsworth is always a fun stop.
Classic Maine Towns
Directly across the cove, Castine awaits exploration, with its historic sea captains’ homes, Revolutionary War-era fort, museums, and the Maine Maritime Academy. The famous Down-East villages of Rockland, Rockport, Camden, Belfast, Bucksport, and Blue Hill are all within easy reach. Visit Stonington at the tip of nearby Deer Isle to experience a vibrant lobstering community and the remains of a once-thriving granite industry.
Dining Experiences
Some of Maine’s best culinary talent is cooking nearby, including the bread and pizza geniuses at Tinder Hearth down the road from us, renowned chef Devin Finigan at Aragosta, and TV-famous Erin French at the Lost Kitchen. Some of our other foodie favorites include Barncastle in Blue Hill, The Pilgrim Inn on Deer Isle, Verona Wine and Bistro in Bucksport, and the unmissable farm-to-handmade-tortilla El El Frijoles in nearby Sargentville.
Around The Place
More of a homebody? Pick a quart of blueberries from our fields and make yourself a pie in our Sea Winds kitchen. Or just settle back in a wicker rocker on the deck with a good book. Marvel at our indescribably colorful sunsets in the evenings. And then gaze up at our super-dark night sky, to catch a few falling stars.
